Questions
What about privacy, and the rules around recording people?
Everything the device captures stays on the device and then on your own machine. There is no account, nothing is uploaded, and the on-device model does the tagging locally — so there is no copy of your recordings sitting on a server we control.
That covers where the data goes. It does not cover whether you are allowed to record in the first place: consent rules for recording a conversation vary by country and by venue, and some trade shows have their own policy. That is on you to check, and we would rather say so plainly than imply the device makes it a non-issue.
How does it work with no connection at all?
That is the default, not a fallback. Capture, tagging and filing all happen on the device. Nothing in the capture path needs a network.
Show floor Wi-Fi came up in three separate places in our research as the reason people rule tools out, so this is the design constraint we are most confident about.
Which systems does it work with?
The desktop software currently ships as a macOS build. Full compatibility — including which Windows and Linux versions are covered — is on the specification table above and is pending hardware and software sign-off.
Can I get my data back out?
Yes. Your library is a folder of ordinary files on your own machine — you can copy it, back it up, or move it to another computer without asking us for anything.
The point of the product is that the material becomes yours to feed into whatever comes next, so a format you cannot get out of would defeat it.
When does it ship?
Crowdfunding has not opened yet. Dates will be published on the campaign page when it does, and everyone on the email list hears first.
We are not going to put a shipping date here before the campaign has one.
What do early backers get?
Early-bird units go to the email list first, in order. The exact tiers and pricing are set with the campaign; the list is how you get to see them before anyone else.
